If you are a Junior Lifeguard between the ages of 14 and 16, you should consider trying out to become a Junior Lifeguard Youth Aide.
As a Youth Aide you work under the close supervision of the Lifeguard Instructors and help in running the program.
This position helps to develop job skills, quality work habits, and leadership abilities through work experience. It also looks great when you try out to become a California State Lifeguard!
tryout & training
Becoming a Youth Aide is a two-step process- the tryout and the training. The Youth Aide tryout consists of two parts. The times from both events are then combined and each participant is ranked. We select the top finishers to be Youth Aides for our summer program. Youth Aide training takes place directly after the tryout is finished as well as the following day. Youth Aides must complete both the tryout and training days each year they wish to return.
